Why Does Diabetes Cause Erectile Dysfunction?
Answer
Diabetes damages the blood vessels and nerves that supply the penile tissue with enough blood to form an erection. Even a slight loss of blood flow to the penis can have this effect. Heart conditions, common in diabetics, are also linked to Erectile Dysfunction in many cases. The constant change in blood sugar levels can cause fibrosis, or loss of elasticity of the penile tissue, that prevents the penile tissues from retaining blood causing a loss of erection.
